Eggers, New Releases & Advent
Well it is sure getting colder, so we thought we would give you something to brighten your day. This year our Southern Hop Showcase is brought to you by Eggers Farm. Hailing from Moutere Valley, New Zealand Eggers are a niche, independent hop grower that specialises in the cultivation of the enigmatic Riwaka cultivar.
They are now six generations on from when their founders planted the first rhizome in Upper Moutere. Since then Eggers Farm has built a legacy based on knowledge, experience, and a deep respect for the land.
You may recognise the name, as many breweries in the UK and across Europe have been using Eggers Hops more and more. The reason? Because, in their words, they are ‘Bloody Amazing Since Always.’
This year's showcase will consist of three Pale Ales and one India Pale Ale.
Harvested from their Olive Garden, on the 8th of March (early season).
This Riwaka is light and airy, floral and delicate. Parma violets, passion fruit, citrus. The body feels fresh, leafy and green. The bear seems to tease you as the more intense aroma meets the refined, moreish body.
3 x Pale Ale Nelson Sauvin, 5.1%
This was grown in their Wakatu Garden & harvested on the 19 March (mid/late season)
This Nelson has high intensity, with a lot going on aromatically: lots of forward citrus (lime, grapefruit), bolstered by a tropical sweetness, with a touch of dankness. A hint of that typically Nelson rubber character. The body is firm and clean though pretty hazy. Lean, straight, refreshing and balanced, through a firmly bitter finish.
3 x Pale Ale Eggers Special, 5.2%
Harvested from the Main Garden on the 21st of March (late season)
Egger’s Special is their distinct epigenetic variant of Riwaka – selected, bred and exclusive to Eggers Hops.
It presents bright, citrus zest, tropical fruit (mango/guava?). Clean and direct. The body is full and bright, clean and citrus. Some savoury notes appear alongside a touch of sherbet and firm bitterness.
3 x India Pale Ale NZ 2025, 6.9%
The IPA NZ '25 is hopped with all three beauties, Nelson, Riwaka & Eggers Special.
Tasting of flint, a touch of Diesel, grapefruit, passion fruit, gummy sweets, savoury, winter greens, gutteral. Lots of depth. Clean body, full and smooth, sweetness balanced by appropriate bitterness, long finish.
Three bottles of each of the showcase beers will be available in a Eggers Showcase box, only available on the Online Shop. Our Spa Road Venue will be hosting an event on Wednesday 29th October where they will be pouring all four beers side by side.
What’s Happening This Month
We have a few beer releases throughout November for you to get excited about.
First up, our single hop series continues with a exploring how Superdelic expresses itself across a couple of different beers, with a Superdelic Pale Ale alongside a Superdelic India Pale Ale, with our Double India Pale Ale will returning to join the fun, hopped with Citra and Superdelic, and we expect it to be delicious!
For the fans of our darker styles, we have some great beers for you too!
The India Double Porter, Bitter - Simmonds 1880 and our collaborative brew with Beer Moth, Drinking Beer will all be available towards the end of November.
We also look forward to the release of our annual brew with Redemption, The Victorian Mild.
This time around Sandy and Stuart journeyed south of the river help us brew.

Our Advent Box is now available for pre-order. These products will be available by pre-order via our Online Shop until Friday 21st November or until they sell out.
There is only a limited number of both available. Once they are gone, they're gone!
You can expect some fun suprises and Advent Box exclusive beers in each of the boxes.
We aim to ship these boxes out in the last week of November, any extra beers purchased will also be shipped at this time.
